Fall 2025 Southern Vermont

Region Elections

     Southern Vermont Region will be conducting elections this fall season with voting starting October 4 and culminating after the last scheduled patrol refresher on November 16, 2025. 

     The election is for the following three offices.

  • Southern Vermont Region Director

ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS FOR REGION DIRECTOR POSITION

  1.  Must be a current registered National Ski Patrol member with primary membership with a patrol in Eastern Division, Southern Vermont region.
  2. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of patrolling
  3. Must have achieved Senior Alpine, Senior Nordic or Certified Patroller at some point in patrol career.
  4. Must have a willingness and capability to carry out the responsibilities of the office such as:
  5.  Comply with Policies and Procedures
  6. Comply with Eastern Division By-Laws
  7. Attend Officer meetings as required
  8. Maintain a positive qualified region program advisor staff
  9.  Election is for a two (2) year term and not to exceed three consecutive terms
  10. Elected by Eastern Division SVT region membership at the fall refresher season.  Term starts April 1
  • Southern Vermont Region, Southern Section Chief –covering Bromley, Magic Mountain, Stratton, Mount Snow, Brattleboro and Haystack/hermitage.
  • Southern Vermont Region, Northern Section Chief –covering Okemo, Killington, Queechee, Twin Farms and Saskadena 6.

SECTION CHIEF RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL

  1. The first responsibility is to fulfill the responsibilities of the Region Director in the event of extended absence or incapacitation.
  2. Be familiar with the national policies and procedures as defined in the current NSP

Policies and Procedures Manual

  • Be familiar with the National and the Division By-Laws.
  • Supports and fosters the NSP mission statement. Ensures membership compliance with NSP national education requirements.
  • Coordinates the course administration and distribution for all OEC education and continuing education records with the responsible instructors of record
  • Provides timely and accurate communication of NSP policies to the region members
  • Act as an ambassador and intermediary between the patrol directors within the section and the region
  • Visit each ski area at least once each season or as requested by the region director
  • Assist patrol directors/patrol representatives with annual registrations to avoid late penalties
  • Assist patrol directors with Tax Form 990, if required, but is responsible for the accurate and complete consolidation of the section and each reporting patrol’s filing. This form 990 must be provided to the region director 60 days after the end of the fiscal year.
  • Submit an annual activity report to the Region Director by April 15.
  • Submit Expense Account forms for travel, with receipts, to the Region Director for approval.
  • Work with the Region Director to select and start grooming your prospective replacement

MEETINGS

  1. Attend the annual Spring Officers Meeting, usually held in early May.

a. Vote on the following agenda items

 The Division budget

                                         Proposals to change members dues, and

• Proposals to change division by-laws

  • The section chief has the right, but not the duty to attend meetings of the board of directors and have the privilege of the floor when recognized by the chair. The section chief may vote on the same items identified above
  • The section chief may also carry a proxy vote in accordance with division by-laws, section 5.8
